How Marissa Uses fitness to turn her struggles into strength
"Since a young age I had a sense of adventure and athleticism; sports, primarily outdoor activities, were always my outlet. During my first "rough patch" in life as a 19 year old, I turned to fitness in the form of running and ran marathons. My life situation fluctuated and my health was a product of that. By the time I was 25 I was out of shape, overweight, and unhappy with myself and my life. This time I turned to the gym and started lifting weights, got back into rock climbing, yoga, formed healthy eating habits, and began skydiving. I use fitness as a stress reliever, and a way to be more in tune with myself to be the best person I can be. We all have struggles, and without fitness and the help of my friends and family, I would not have been capable of turning my struggles into strength. I love sharing anything I know to help others along the way. We're always growing as individuals, but there's also power in numbers."
"I almost joined the military twice and have the utmost respect for our service men and women. If I could go back I may have chosen one of those paths."
