HOW MANDY USES FITNESS TO TURN HER STRUGGLES INTO STRENGTH
"I was born and grew up in a small village in the North Eastern part of Quebec, Canada; an isolated area. Any student wishing to have higher education has to leave their hometown at a young age. Wit the being said, at 17 years old, I left my small town of 1100 people, said good-bye to all of my friends and family and moved some 700 miles away. Adjusting to life in a city, with no friends or social support system, in a completely different culture was very difficult! I found it extremley challenging to meet people with whom I had anything in common with. It was only after joining a local running club when things started to turn around for the better. With a shared passion for running, the athletes of this club became my second family. They were my tour guides around the city, they cooked dinners for me, listened to my problems and gave advice when needed. From that point onward, things and life were fine. Now ten years later, I work for this running company and teach fitness classes at a local downtown gym. Without a doubt, it was through the passion of sport that I was able to find my way and discover my purpose."
I was a competitive figure skater for over 10 years.
