HOW KIRK USES FITNESS TO TURN HIS STRUGGLES INTO STRENGTH
"When my mother become ill in the summer of '86, our live were put on hold until she passed away a year later. My health, eating habits, and focus fell by the wayside during this time. It wasn't until some time after her death that my focus and perspective started turning in the right direction, thanks to fitness. I used fitness to cope with the loss of my mother. In the process, I got leaner, healthier, got back into weight training, and started running races again. I became stronger mentally and still continue to do so. I came to the conclusion that life was short and I had to make things happen. My mother was a strong willed person, and in her mind there were no obstacles that one couldnt overcome. I carry that with me everyday."
