SANEA MILES

Full Name: Sanea Miles

Nick-name: Smiles, Cocoa or my family calls me Nah-ya

Occupation or dream job:
I work at Road Runner Sports hosting events like charity 5ks, team nights for high school kids and adults, packet pick-ups and other fun shopping nights we have at the store. Recently I had the opportunity to work with the visual merchandising team which was challenging but a fun experience. My dream job would be a career that allows me time to travel the world. I would love to be able to travel to different countries and experience their culture. Growing up in San Diego has been amazing and one of the magical things about this place is that you always meet people who have moved here from other cities, states, or countries.

Home-town:
I was born in Torrance, California and my family moved to San Diego when I was 5.

Fitness Secret:
My favorite and least favorite work out is running hills. It gets your heart pumping, your entire body burning, and it's so gratifying to look down and see what you have just accomplished.

Causes or organizations close to your heart:
Species and habitat conservation are very important to me, particularly amazing organizations like Big Cat Rescue. Their mission is to stop the abuse of tigers, lions, leopards, and other exotic big cats in captivity and works to prevent their extinction. The sanctuary houses around 80 big cats, some that have been brought to them in bad condition. You can see first hand how happy these animals are running around, playing with each other, and how much love they have for their care taker. I hope to one day visit, and if I had the opportunity, I would love to get to spend time learning and interacting with these beautiful creatures.

Tell us about a time you turned struggle into strength:
Fitness is a constant outlet in my life. If I'm having a long day and want to escape and run away for a little while, it's so nice to be able to go outside and just start running. I don't need to have a particular destination or distance in mind. I have been blessed with only minimal loss and tragedy in my life. Though I have lost family and friends, it has only made me realize that I can't waste energy on relationships that don't bring me true happiness, instead I'd rather do something for myself, like a nice long run.
