VIRAGO BOARD MEMBER

Virago Fitness, Inc. is seeking highly motivated and passionate individuals to serve as board members on their 501(c)3 nonprofit organization’s board of directors.

As a Board Member, you will have the opportunity to work with a team of knowledgeable and driven individuals in a collaborative and progressive atmosphere. The board is made up of a variety of business professionals, as well as community organizers who join together to make set policies, vote on the strategic direction of the company and oversee officers serving the board.

We are looking for candidates who are:

  • Passionate about our cause and would like to play an integral role in expanding Virago

  • Able to commit to spending 2-3 hours a week performing board duties :attending board meetings (monthly), participating in events, networking for Virago Fitness and sharing our mission within the community.

  • Motivated to become a great fundraiser and prepared to learn new skills to succeed in this role.

  • Experienced in non-profit leadership and are ready to bring their experience and insight to Virago Fitness

  • New to non-profit leadership but have certain skills and expertise that would advance Virago’s mission, such as:

    • Grant Writing and Fundraising

    • Counseling/Therapy/Mental Health

    • Education/Vocational Counseling

    • Holistic Health and Wellness

    • Psychotherapy and Psychiatry

    • Substance Abuse Intervention/Prevention

    • Post Traumatic Stress

    • Fitness/Exercise Instruction

    • Public Relations

    • Photography/Content Creation

    • Copy writing/blog writing

    • Business Law

Requirements:

  • Candidates must live in the San Diego County area.

  • Must be serious and willing to commit to serving a three year term.

VIRAGO CONTENT CONTRIBUTOR

In 2019, we are beefing up our content. We want to offer our followers compelling, helpful and relevant content related to health/fitness for healing. Instead of creating it ourselves, we thought we would partner with some awesome specialists in the industry that we trust and wish to promote.

We are looking for content contributors in the following categories:

  • Fitness Instruction/Workout tips or Information

  • Health & Nutrition

  • Mental Health / PTSD / Suicide Prevention / Depression

This position is for a 3 month period. What we would like from you are articles related to physical fitness with the a unique focus on healing (Healing can mean mental, physical or spiritual).

Candidate must be able to provide an article every two weeks on Friday before 5pm. That is a total of 6 articles all together. The articles copy must be between 250-500 words and be in your own words! Plagiarism is unacceptable. Please provide relevant photos with your articles. We reserve the right to use the photos you provide or create our own imagery for your article, as we need to keep our content aligned with Virago’s branding.

We will post your articles on website with you as the author, include your bio and link it back to your website, and post the associated photos on our instagram linking back to yours. We would like to be a mutually beneficial collaboration, so in exchange, we will promote you and your business to all of our followers via website, instagram, facebook, and e-newsletters. We can also throw in a flyer of yours into every apparel purchase that goes out within the 3 month period.

*** A Virago Content Contributor cannot re-post the exact article that he or she writes for us on their own website. Google has cracked down on duplicate content. What will most likely happen is the post will eventually return a 400 error. So whatever content we receive from you during this time will be published on our site only, but you will receive credit for it at the bottom with your photo, bio and link to your website for more information if people are interested in learning more. You are more than welcome to post a blog on your site talking about the blog you contributed to our site/company and then provide the link to your article. You may also re-purpose the content to create a new blog. However, word for word article redistribution will be flagged and removed and negatively impact your SEO.

F.I.T. PROJECT COORDINATOR INTERN

Description:       Virago Fitness is seeking a dynamic and enthusiastic self-starter to assist with research and community outreach efforts. This internship is an excellent opportunity to develop more skills while making an impact on your community!

Main Objective: Increase number of classes available each week/month for FIT Program.

Primary Responsibilities (including, but not limited to):

·         Research and outreach of potential fitness instructors for Virago to partner with

·         Keep database updated regularly with potential partners and instructors

·         Coordinate and book various fitness classes including location and instructor

·         Assist in creating partnerships with other companies and/or instructors to promote FIT classes

·         Coordinate with instructors on venues, communications and new ideas for FIT Classes

·         Reach out to the community organizations, general public and donors with the message about Virago’s mission

·         Attend FIT classes to assist and represent Virago

·         Take photos of classes and provide to social media department

Qualifications:

·         Firm grasp of available tools and platforms in the social media space 

·         Completed or working toward a college degree, preferably in a related field (e.g. fitness or nutrition)

·         Ability to work independently and as part of a team

·         Previous internship or related experience in fitness or nutrition or related field is a plus

·         Must be computer literate (working knowledge of Word, Google Docs and/or Excel).

·         An effective communicator, both written and oral

·         Ability to communicate in a professional manner with staff and community contacts

·         Self-motivated, good organizational skills, detail-oriented, ability to prioritize, multi-task and meet deadlines

·         Enthusiasm for the mission of Virago

Start Date: Position open until filled, requires 3 – 6 month commitment with potential of employment after commitment is fulfilled.

Hours: 8 – 12 hours/week, once a week in office with remote weekly updates. Flexibility with schedule or specific hours.

F.I.T. PROJECT MARKETING INTERN

Description:       Virago Fitness is seeking a dynamic and enthusiastic self-starter to assist with marketing and PR efforts. This internship is an excellent opportunity to experience various aspects of marketing and develop more skills while making an impact on your community!

Main Objective: Increase attendance and awareness of Virago, FIT Program and classes.

Primary Responsibilities (including, but not limited to):

·         Assist in coordinating various marketing methods including, direct mail, print ads, networking, internet, social media, and develop new methods of marketing

·         Assist in creating partnerships with other companies to advertise FIT classes

·         Create posts for classes on company approved social medial platforms

·         Review social media web analytics on a weekly basis and use to develop strategy

·         Assist social media department with FIT Class Marketing Strategy

·         Reach out to the community organizations, general public and donors with the message about Virago’s mission

·         Assist in planning, writing and managing monthly eNewsletter

·         Designing flyers, graphics, e-vites and other marketing material for major events hosted by Virago

·         Assist other interns in attending FIT classes to assist and represent Virago

·         Increase attendance to FIT classes by community outreach, social media, etc.

 

Qualifications:

·         Firm grasp of available tools and platforms in the social media space 

·         Strong attention to detail

·         Completed or working toward a college degree, preferably in a related field (e.g., Marketing/Communications, or
Public Relations)

·         Ability to work independently and as part of a team

·         Previous internship or related experience in marketing or communications is a plus

·         Must be computer literate (working knowledge of word processing, PowerPoint, Excel). Proficiency in Adobe Photoshop
highly desired. Knowledge of HTML and graphic design a plus, but not required

·         An effective communicator, both written and oral

·         Ability to communicate in a professional manner with staff and community contacts

·         Self-motivated, good organizational skills, detail-oriented, ability to prioritize, multi-task and meet deadlines

·         Enthusiasm for the mission of Virago

F.I.T. project Operations intern

Description:       Virago Fitness is seeking a dynamic and enthusiastic self-starter to assist with operations and providing analytics. This internship is an excellent opportunity to develop more skills while making an impact on your community!

Main Objective: Increase instructor/attendee satisfaction of FIT Program.

Primary Responsibilities (including, but not limited to):

·         Post all FIT classes on Virago website/Eventbrite

·         Provide link to FIT marketing personnel

·         Manage automated correspondence with FIT instructors

·         Assists customers regarding FIT class scheduling, attending, follow up, etc.

·         Mail/Ship all FIT class supplies to instructors

·         Inventory supplies weekly and submit order requests to board for re-orders

·         Maintain/Build data to assist and help develop instructor/attendee satisfaction analytics

·         Follow up with instructors and attendees to collect feedback and provide feedback to Officers

·         Assist other interns in attending FIT classes to assist and represent Virago

Qualifications:

·         Firm grasp of available tools and platforms in the social media space 

·         Completed or working toward a college degree, preferably in a related field (e.g., Business or Operations)

·         Ability to work independently and as part of a team

·         Previous internship or related experience in operations is a plus

·         Must be computer literate (working knowledge of Word, Google Docs and/or Excel).

·         An effective communicator, both written and oral

·         Ability to communicate in a professional manner with staff and community contacts

·         Self-motivated, good organizational skills, detail-oriented, ability to prioritize, multi-task and meet deadlines
